Tullamore Harriers report – April 12th, 2026
National 10K success for Tullamore Harriers
On Sunday the 12th of April, on a dry but very breezy day, the National 10K Road Championships took place in conjunction with the Revive Active Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.
This 10,000m race attracts both elite athletes and recreational runners, with over 3,000 finishers on the day and just over 600 of whom represented athletics clubs, all competing for National team and age- group honours.
Tullamore Harriers was well represented with 17 club members taking part. The race began on Chesterfield Avenue, and although the championships have been hosted in the park many times, the 2026 edition featured a slightly revised course. Runners passed iconic landmarks such as Áras an Uachtaráin and the Papal Cross, with the occasional spectacle of wild deer roaming throughout the park.
The race winners were Ian Guiden (Clonliffe Harriers A.C.) in 30:13 and Emily Haggard Kearney (North Belfast Harriers) in 33:25.
For Tullamore Harriers, Killian Nolan led the men home with a superb run, finishing 35th overall in 34:11. He was closely followed by Barry Minnock, who placed 39th in 34:40 and secured silver in the O50 category. Brendan Abbott delivered a standout performance, earning his first National individual medal with bronze in the O60 category and Rita Daly Ravenhill rounded off a great result for the club when she also won a bronze medal in the O55 age group.
In the team competition, it was the women who shone. The trio of Evelyn Herlihy, Niamh McEnhill, and Rita Daly Ravenhill combined to claim bronze team medals in the O35 category.

National Juvenile Relay Championships.
Day 3 of the National 123.ie Juvenile Relays brought the indoor season to a close for our U17 Girls 4x200m team.
The Leinster bronze medallists lined out confidently, with their sights set on a PB performance. Despite some late challenges - with Maddie Deverell recovering from injury and Chloe McGowan unfortunately sidelined the evening before the finals, Ellie Finlay stepped up brilliantly to join her teammates; Róisín Cotter, Fayth Byrne and Samia Akbar in Heat 2, where they secured a good lane 5 draw. The girls had an excellent race, narrowly missing out on a new personal best. Finishing 8th in Ireland, matching last year’s outdoor 4x100m result is a fantastic achievement. Well done to the team for their maturity, teamwork, resilience, and steady progress throughout the indoor season. They will now focus on the outdoor season, which kicks off next Sunday at Tullamore Harriers Stadium with the Offaly Athletics Juvenile Track & Field Championships.
National Spring Throws.
We had two athletes competing on home soil at the National Spring Throws on Sunday the 12th of April. Despite the very unseasonal weather conditions in Tullamore, both performed well. Joe Mulligan was 2nd in the Senior Men’s Shot Put with a throw of 9.22m.
Olive Mannion also secured 2nd place in the 400g Javelin, alongside impressive performances across 2 other events: 4.08m in the 28lb Weight for Distance (stepping up from her usual 20lb) and 6.15m in the 3kg Shot Put.
Drogheda 5K
Olive Mannion competed in the Drogheda 5K on Easter Monday (April 6th) where she clocked 27.01.
