Tullamore Harriers report – 12th October 2026
Tullamore Harriers – 12th October 2026
Minnock wins Paddy Larkin 3K.
Congratulations to Kevin Minnock, winner of the annual Paddy Larkin 3K, held at Tullamore Harriers on Tuesday evening (6th October).
The Paddy Larkin 3K is a unique club race, covering the 3,000m distance but incorporating both the stadium track and the outer tarmac track in a figure-of-eight loop. The race also marked Round 1 of the Tullamore Harriers Winter League, with club members divided into four teams who will battle it out over a series of three races in the coming weeks.
Kevin Minnock took the honours, followed by Jack Donegan in second and Eoin Brennan in third. In the ladies’ race, Sarah Flanagan was first, followed by Niamh McEnhill in second and Charlotte Abbott in third. Full results will follow.
The Paddy Larkin 3K is held each year to honour one of the founding members of Tullamore Harriers, while the annual Club Mass which follows is a special opportunity to remember the club’s deceased members.
As the athletes gathered on the start line, Club Chairman Adrian Curley welcomed the runners, Paddy’s son Michael, along with supporters and friends to the special occasion. Adrian paid his annual heartfelt tribute to Paddy, reminding everyone that Paddy was a remarkably young man when he and the other founding members took on the challenge of developing the club that we know today - a vision and commitment that remains remarkable even by today’s standards.
Paddy’s influence and dedication extended far beyond his role as Honorary Secretary. He devoted his life to the growth and development of Tullamore Harriers, and the benefits of his work and commitment continue to be enjoyed by club members and visiting athletes today.
Following the race, a good crowd gathered for the annual Mass, celebrated by Fr Ciaran McGovern. Based in Co. Longford, Fr Ciaran has been a long-standing member of the club and a dear friend of Tullamore Harriers for many years.
The Mass is traditionally a time to remember all those who have passed away and who have been part of the club over the years. The presence of family members of some of our more recently deceased members added to the significance of the evening.
The evening concluded with tea and cakes, with plenty of chat, laughter and memories shared among members and friends.
Well done to everyone who took part and to all those who helped make it such a special evening for Tullamore Harriers.
