Winter League Wins for Grennan and Kelly
Last week saw the running of two legs of the Winter League. Three teams were picked and every runner scores points for their team. The first leg took place last Thursday night and was run over 3000 metres and was run on the tarmac lap. Forty two runners including some guests lined up at the start. Catch Grennan took an early lead ahead of the chasing pack which included John Harkin and Adrian Curley. Grennan increased his lead as the race went on but on the last lap of five Adrian Curley came with a great run and closed right up on Grennan. However Grennan held on to win in a time of 9.46, two seconds ahead of Adrian Curley with John Harkin running on well to take third a further 8 seconds behind.

Winter League 2nd leg
The second leg of the Winter league was held in Charleville Estate last Sunday morning in sunny and frosty conditions.As in the first leg there was a good turnout and thirty four runners lined up for the race, run over 3600 metres.

Noel Kelly dominated the race from the start and was never troubled to come home a clear winner in a time of 12.11. As in the first leg Catch Grennan and Adrian Curley had a good battle with Grennan prevailing once again to take second in 12.45 and Adrian Curley third. John Harkin found an extra gear to hold off Martin Carroll and finish fourth with Carroll fifth just a second behind. Pauline Curley was first woman home when finishing sixth in 13.10.
In the team standings after two legs, Team B is leading with 410 points from Team C on 373 points and Team A with it all to do on 299 points. The final leg will be run on Thursday 11th December and another big turnout is expected as team captains rally their troops for one last push for glory.

7th December; National novice Cross country championships; Ballyhaise Co. Cavan
11th December; Winter league- 3rd leg at 7pm
16th December; Grand National at 7pm. Presentation of prizes afterwards in Eugenes.
25th December; Goal Mile.
31st December; Round the Houses road race at 12 noon.

Training: Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, Sunday morning at 8.30am (except on a Race day). New members always welcome. On these dark evenings, it is important that all members wear reflective clothing when running on the roads.

Memberships are now due and cost 35 euro for the year.
