Fearghus Hannon Competes in European Championship Final
Fearghus Hannon was a member of the Irish 4 x 400 metre relay team that competed in the European Junior championships last weekend. The championships were held in Novi Sad in Serbia. With Fearghus running the first leg the team qualified for the final by finishing in third place in the semi-final in a time of 3.20.46. In the final the Irish team were placed sixth in an improved time of 3.15.79. This was a great achievement for Fearghus and a proud day for his family as he emulated his brother Eoin’s feat in the European Championships of 2007 when Eoin Qualified for the Long Jump final.
Hensey Excels in Kerry.
Ger Hensey had a busy schedule in Kerry last weekend. On Friday night he competed in the Kerry senior championships in Castleisland and was rewarded with seasons best performances in the 100 and 200 metres. In the 100 metres Ger finished sixth in a fast time of 11.52 and in the 200 metres Ger finished fifth in 23.62 which is a new V 1 Masters record. On Sunday it was back to the Castleisland track again, this time for the Munster Masters Track and field Championships. Despite getting a bad start when his blocks slipped, Ger powered his way to victory in a time of 11.83.
Ballytore 6k Road Race.
The 26th Annual Guide Dog Ballytore 6k road race took place in the county Kildare village last Friday. On a humid evening Jim Langan won the over 65 category in a time of 27.46.
Daingean 5k Road Race.
The 10th annual Daingean Festival 5k road race take place on Friday 31st of July at 8pm. This popular race is run over four laps of the town and a big field is again expected.Everyone is welcome to compete and entries will be taken on the night from 7pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Tullamore Harriers extend their deepest sympathy to the family of Eddie Rogers who passed away last Sunday.
