FINE RUN BY GRENNAN IN PETER ENGLISH 625
The annual Peter English 625 took place last Thursday evening on the newly relayed tarmac 625 circuit. On a bright sunny evening Catch Grennan put in a fine run of 1.34 but was made to work hard over the first half of the circuit by Damien Lawlor and John Scanlon. After the 400 mark Grennan strength began to show and a gap opened but Lawlor dug deep to keep the pressure on all the way to the line just 3 seconds behind. John Scanlon stayed on for third place and was well pleased with his time of 1.43. Pauline Lambe led the Ladies home followed by Una Mullen and Martina Conlon. Joe Wrafter took the Masters Men title ahead of Gerry Kavanagh and Pat Conlon.

KENNEDY IN RELAY WIN
The Irish 4x400 relay team of Brian Doyle, Paul McKee, Gordon Kennedy and David Gillick recorded a time of 3.04.43 to win the event at the European Cup in Talinn, Estonia on Sunday. The squad had a clear win ahead of Denmark 3.08.76 and Latvia 3.08.97 but just fell short of their target time of 3.04.30 needed to put them in the current top 16 for Beijing. Hopefully the squad will have another opportunity to achieve the time and make the top 16 list.
