MEDALS FOR MASTER’S AT NATIONAL 10K
The AAI 10k road championships were held in Athenry Co Galway last Sunday with 400 athletes taking part. A group of 23 club members lined out on a dry day with a slight cold wind to tackle the 10k event. First home was Declan Fahey in 24th place which gave him the bronze medal in the VI master’s category. Declan combined with Catch Grennan and John Donegan to take the Master’s team silver medal in a very close finish. North Laois won gold with a combined time of 101.34 against Tullamore’s 101.36 with Tallaght AC third in 102.41. The Master’s women led home by Liz Cuskelly with Deirdre Lambe and Mary Daly won silver medals with 123.52. Sportsworld took gold on 117.49 with Mayo AC third on 124.19. The senior men’s team of Mike Murphy, Barry Lambe, Joe Wrafter and John O’Connell finished in 10th place. The senior women’s team of Pauline Lambe, Maire-Triona Keane and Sharon Leonard finished in 6th place.

RACE ROUND UP
The AAI Road Relays were held in Raheny on Sunday 13th April with a large turnout in all four relay races. The club had one team in action on the day with the Master Men’s team of Catch Grennan, Declan Fahey and John Donegan finishing in 5th place of 15 teams taking part. Catch Grennan ran 4.45 in the first leg and handed over to Declan Fahey in second place with only 4 seconds separating the first 5 teams. Declan ran the 2 lap leg in 10.08 and handed over to John Donegan with the team still in contention for the bronze medal. John ran 5.05 for the lap but was unable to close the gap and they finished just 9 seconds off third place Tallaght AC. On Saturday 19th John Todd was in action at the BHAA 8 mile road race in Clonee, which had 150 finishers. On a very cold day and running into the wind over the first part of the course John was 17th overall and 1st over 55 in 48.31.

Friday 30th May, Jack Cox 5k Kilcormac, incorporating Offaly Road Championships.

Training : Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, Sunday morning at 8.30am (except on a race day) all are welcome.

Circuit training led by Adrian Brennan every Wednesday at 7pm.
