Pauline Curley Second in Lifestyle Sports-Adidas 5 Mile.

Pauline Curley competed in the Lifestyle Sports-Adidas 5 mile road race in the Phoenix Park last Saturday. Numbers were well up on last year and Pauline, a previous winner in 2006 and 2007 but second last year to Raheney’s Annette Kealy once again lined up against her old rival. Pauline and Kealy ran together in the early stages but in the third mile Kealy opened up a gap. As the race progressed Curley tried to get back up to her opponent but Kealy held on to win with Pauline Curley taking second, just five seconds behind. Adrian Martin finished in 336th place in a time of 34.25.

In the Graded meeting in Santry last Wedensday Ger Hensey continued to display good form when he won the Grade B 100 metres in a time of 11.60..

Triathlone.
Three members of the club competed in the Triathlon which was held in Athlone last Saturday. Mary Daly put in a brilliant performance to win the womens Olympic distance race. Mary excelled in all three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running to finish ahead of the field in a time of 2.00.10. Mary’s splits were 13.19 (swim), 1.02.37 (bike) and 35.14 (run).

John O’Connell finished in 74th place overall and 5th in his age category in 2.10.30. 13.23 (swim), 1.06.19 (bike) and 41.08 (run). Mick Murphy competed in the shorter Sprint race and finished in 74th place overall and 10th in his age category. Mick’s time was 1.13.37 with splits of 12.39 (s), 36.36 (b) and 16.23 (r).

Daingean 5k Road Race.
The 10th annual Daingean Festival 5k road race take place on Friday 31st of July at 8pm. This popular race is run over four laps of the town and a big field is again expected.Everyone is welcome to compete and entries will be taken on the night from 7pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
