Harriers out in force in Great Ireland Run
A big group of twenty six club members joined 11,000 others in the Phoenix for the Spar Great Ireland Run which also incorporated the National 10K Championships of Ireland. On what was an ideal day for running Pauline Curley was our best placed finisher coming home in 10th place in the women’s race in a time of 36.51. Hot on Pauline’s heels and having a great run was Pauline Lambe in 11th place in 37.09. Liz Cuskelly who was in the leading group early on dug deep in the latter stages of the race which included a lot of uphill stretches to come home in 14th place in 37.48.
In the men’s race Declan Fahey put in a great performance to finish 41st in a time of 33.46 and was closely followed by Catch Grennan in 47th place in 34.13. There were a lot of other good runs from our athletes on what was a great days racing. There are no team results available yet but hopes are high that the club will be in the shake up in a few categories.

Catch Grennan Wins Spring League
The third and final leg of the Spring League took place on Tuesday of last week and was run on the tartan track over the classic mile distance. With victories in the first two legs Catch Grennan was expected to be the man to beat. Grennan had won the first two races in the league and over the mile which is his forte he raced to an almost effortless victory in a time of 4.51.Behind Grennan there was a great scrap for the minor placings with newcomer Richie Galvin showing a great turn of pace to overtake John Donegan and claim second place in 4.57 with Donegan a close third in 4.59.
With a strike rate of three wins out of three Catch Grennan was a clear overall winner of the league with the consistent Donegan second and Jody O’Reilly taking third place.
