Good track performances in AAI Games
Six athletes from Tullamore Harriers competed at the AAI Games in Athlone on Sunday. Conditions were not ideal and a blustery headwind on the homestraight ruled out any possibility of really fast times.   Gordon Kennedy opened his outdoor season on a satisfactory note.  He finished 2nd in the 100m in 11.10 into a headwind of -0.9.  He followed this up with a 2nd place finish in the 200m in a time of 22.49 into a headwind of -1.6 . and rounded off the day running 48.40 in the 400m.  Fearghus Hannon  competed in the 100m finishing 6th in a time of 11.69 and competed in the 200m finishing in 4th place in a time of 22.65, -1.5 wind. Darragh Hanlon threw the 1.5 kilo Discus 45.69. Mick Fleming ran in the 100m finishing in 6th position in his race in a time of  13.29 and in the 200m in a time of  27.54.  Ger Hensey turned the clock back with his best time for many years in the 200m when he ran a time of 23.72 into a -1.5 headwind and followed this up with a time of  11.64 in the 100m. Pious Devine ran 12.01 in the 100 metres and recorded 25.36 in the 200 metres. Good results for all in the difficult conditions.

John Treacy 10 Mile Classic.
Last Sunday saw the running of the John Treacy 10 Mile Classic in Treacy’s home village of Villerstown, Co. Waterford. The race was run over a hilly course and Pauline Curley came home a clear winner in the Ladies race in a time of 59.29. Pauline Lambe continued in her rich vein of form to finish in a great second place in a time of 62.18. Barry Lambe recorded a time of 65.52.

Mullingar Road League
The second leg of the Midland Road League took place in the lovely surrounds of Belvedere House last Wednesday. The race was run over 5K and is a mixture of road and wooded trails. Maire Triona Keane followed up on her victory in the first leg with another impressive run to again come home as the ladies winner in a time of 18.48.

Jody O’Reilly improved on his time from the previous week with 17.15. Other times were Adrian Martin 19.29, Joe Wrafter 20.18, Brendan Carroll 21.15 and Jim Langan 22.22.

Larry Rigney- Marathon Man
On the recent May Bank Holiday Monday Larry Rigney competed in the Belfast Marathon. On a very wet and windy day Larry finished in a time of 4 hours and twelve minutes. This was Larrys 69th Marathon to date and next Sunday sees Larry lining up for his 70th when he competes in the Clare Burren Marathon. Well done Larry.
