Leinster Cross Country Win for Pauline Curley
The Leinster senior cross country championships were run in Kilmacow, County Kilkenny last Sunday on a dry fast course. The womens race was run over a distance of 5000 metres and here Pauline Curley was always up with the leading group and finished strong to come home a clear winner from Dunboyne’s Fiona Reid with Catriona Jennings from Sportsworld in third place. Liz Cuskelly finished a fine 9th place and was followed by Mary Daly in 29th place. Evelyn Herlihy was having her championship race for the club and acquitted herself well to finish in 29th place. Martina Conlon also ran well and finished in 31st place. In the team competition Tullamore came third and the Offaly team were also placed third behind Meath and Dublin.
Next up were the men who had to race over a distance of 10,000 metres. Despite the team been short the services of several runners, the athletes that ran excelled on the day and were rewarded by helping the Offaly team to third place behind Dublin and Kilkenny. Catch Grennan was the first Tullamore man to fiish in 16th place and he was followed by Mark Servis who had a great run in 27th place. Darren Butler came home in 28th, John O’ Connell 29th and Maurice Fitzgerald in 33rd place. The Offaly teams final scoring member was Brendan Kennedy who placed 34th. This was a particularly sweet day for Brendan as he won his first Leinster senior medal after many years running in the blue and white of Tullamore.

Business Houses
The Dublin Airport 5 mile cross country race was run last Saturday in Alsaa, north Dublin on an excellent course in dry conditions. Declan Madden showed a return to form after injury to finish 25th place overall and 6th over 40 in a time of 30.25. Tony McCormack was 3rd in the over 50 category and 41st overall in a time of 32.11. John Todd clocked 33.53 while winning the over 55 section and placed 70th overall.

Tullamore Harriers extend it’s deepest sympathies to the Carroll family on the death of Mary Carroll, Brocca Road, Mucklagh.

Training: Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, Sunday morning at 8.30am Except on a race day. New members always welcome.
With the dark evenings now here it is important to be seen on the roads so reflective gear must be worn while training on the roads
