Catch Grennan Wins Winter League
A big field of thirty five runners lined up for the third and final leg of the Winter League last Thursday night which was run over a distance of 3,000 metres and consisted of almost five laps of the tarmac circuit. With one win each from the first two races it looked like a straight battle between Catch Grennan and John Harkin for overall honours. And so it proved, with Harkin moving into the lead from the start and been closely pursued by Grennan. Soon after Grennan went into the lead and pulled away steadily to come home an easy winner in 9.24 with John Harkin over one hundred metres behind in second place. Declan Fahey showed he is getting back to form, finishing in third place with Johnny Feery having a great run to take fourth place in a time of 10.00.
The overall winner of the Winter League, with two victories and a second place was Catch Grennan. Second place went to John Harkin and Declan Fahey took third place. Team C captained by Darren Butler were the team winners followed by Martina Conlon’s team with Richie Faulkner’s finishing third.

Goal Mile.
The Goal Mile will take place on Christmas day between 10 and 12 noon on the Tullamore Harriers tartan track. It is a great place to meet people and also work up an appetite for the Christmas dinner. All you have to do is turn up, run or walk a mile and make a donation to Goal. For anyone feeling particularly energetic there will be a competitive mile at 11am. Also this year at 11.15 there will be a mile race involving some well known personalities from the Tullamore area and this should be very enjoyable, particularly for those watching.
