Mary Daly Does The Double
Last Sunday on a beautiful autumn morning the Offaly Intermediate Crosscountry championships took place in the grounds of Charleville Estate.The course was wet in places but was in good condition for fast running. First up was the ladies race over 3500 metres. Mary Daly followed up her novice win last week with an equally impressive victory as she led from start to finish to come home a clear winner in a time of 15.52. For the second week running Sharon Leonard had to be content with second place 44 seconds adrift and Colette Boland claimed third place in a time of 17.48.
The mens race was run over 6000 metres and Pat Conlon had a great run to record a fine win in 25.06.Pat was followed home by Fra Mollen who was running his first crosscontry race for the club and in third position was Brendan Kennedy.
Ladies Intermediate.3500 metres. 1 Mary Daly 15.52, 2 Sharon Leonard 16.36, 3 Colette Boland 17.48, 4 Fiona Purcell 19.23.
Mens Intermediate 6000 metres. 1 Pat Conlon 25.08, 2 Fra Mollen 27.50, 3 Brendan Kennedy 30.31, 4 Jim Dolan 32.57.

Also last Sunday in Charleville club members had a ladies 3500 metre and mens 6000 metre race in preparation for upcoming races.
Ladies. 1 Maire-Triona Keane 14.00, 2 Ann Carroll 14.51, 3 Martina Conlon 17.45.
Mens. 1 John Donegan 21.59, 2 Martin Carroll 22.09, 3 Adrian Curley 22.39, 4 Jody O Reilly 22.49, 5 Johnny Feery 23.22, 6 Catch Grennan 23.47, 7 Joe Wrafter 23.59, 8 Liam Dunne 24.12, 9 Nick Devery (guest) 24.31, 10 John O Connell 27.03.
Pauline Curley competed in the first running of the Donadea forest 10k run in the scenic and tranquil setting of Donadea Forest Park near Prosperous Kildare.Pauline was First lady to finish and 4th overall in a time of 37.07.
Pauline Lambe finished in second place in The open Dungarven Crosscountry Race over 4000 metres.
Declan Fahey took part in the Dublin Simon 5 Mile Run and finished 3rd in a time of 26.02. Everyone in the club wish Declan well when he competes next Sunday in. the Amsterdam Marathon.

19th October Gerry Farnan Crosscountry (incorporating masters trials), Phoenix Park.
26th October: Leinster Novice and Masters Cross Country Championships, Avondale, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow.
27th October Dublin City Marathon.
2nd November Offaly Senior Crosscountry in Charleville Estate Tullamore.
9th November: Intermediate Cross Country Championships, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois.
Training: Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, Sunday morning at 8.30am (except on a Race day). New members always welcome. With the advent of the dark evenings it is important that all members wear reflective clothing when running on the roads.
