Good performances at National Masters Indoors
The National Masters Indoors took place last Sunday in Nenagh and there were some very good performances and a lot of medals won on the day.

Pride of place must go to Mary Walsh and Jim Langan who each won three gold medals. Mary was competing in the over 60 category and was in great form as she claimed victory in the 200metres, the 400 metres and the 800 metres.Jim Langan’s gold medal haul came in the over 65 category starting with the 800 metres which he won in a time of 2.53 and then the 1500 metres where he claimed victory in a time of 6.03.Then Jim shrugged off any tirdness he may have been feeling to round off a great day by winning his third National title of the day in the 3000 metres in a time of 12.42.

Pauline Curley ran in the 3000 metres and had a convincing victory in a time of 10.11. Indeed Tullamore dominated this race as Liz Cuskelly finished second in a time of 10.32.

Paddy Dolan had a very busy day, competing in four events in the over 60 category.Paddy’s best result came in the 400 metres where he was second in a fine time of 70.52. Paddy won a bronze medal in the 200 metres in a time of 32.48 and he also took third place in the high jump. He also competed in the 800 metres and finished fourth in 2.45.4.

Johnny Feery competed in the over 50 grade in the 3000 metres and had a fine run to come second whilst Catch Grennan came third in the 800 metres in the over 35 category.

Leinster Athletic Awards
The Annual Leinster Athletic Awards took place last Friday night in the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow. The Offaly award which is based on performances in Leinster competition in 2008 went to Georgina Touhey. Georgina had a great year, most notably in the Walking events where she won the Leinster Senior Indoor in a championship best record of 14.43 and she followed this up with a victory in the Leinster Senior Outdoor in a time of 15.07, which again was a championship record.

Business Houses Cross Country
The BHAA South Dublin Co. Council Cross Country was held last Saturday in Tymon Park, Templeogue and four athletes from the club competed. The best placed Harrier athlete on the day was Rose Masterson who finished 8th in the womens two mile race in a time of 13.17. Declan Fahey finished in 15th position in the mens four mile race in a time of 23.52 whilst Declan Madden came home in 38th place in 25.38. John Todd finished in 73rd place overall and 2nd over 55 in a time of 27.24.

Tullamore Harriers wish to extend their deepest sympathy to Ronan Duffy on the death of his father Thomas.

Fixtures
January 18th. Leinster senior cross country championships in Tymon Park, Dublin.
February 7th and 8th AAI Senior Indoor Championships in Belfast.
February 15th. National Masters and Intermediate Cross Country championships in Santry, Dublin.

Training: Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, Sunday morning at 8.30am (except on a Race day). New members always welcome. On these dark evenings, it is important that all members wear reflective clothing when running on the roads.

Memberships are now due and cost 35 euro for the year.
