Tullamore athletes compete in London Indoor Games

Eoin Hannon Wins National Long Jump Title

Eoin Hannon reached a new milestone in his athletic career when he won his first national senior title at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast at the weekend.  Eoin competing in the long jump won the gold medal with his 5th round jump of 7.40m, a new indoor PB and an improvement of 8cm on his previous best.  Eoin led the final from round one with an opening jump of 7.18.  He had to skip his round 3 jump in order to compete in the 60m final, but he came back to the runway to launch himself out to his best distance in 3 years taking the title by a margin of 30cm.  Eoin also competed in the 60m where he won his heat on Saturday in a new PB of 7.05. He improved on this time again in the semi final Sunday morning finishing second to Paul Hession in 7.00 and qualified for the final where he finished in 6th overall in 7.06

Gordon Kennedy won his heat of the 400m in a time of 49,89 and qualified for the B final where he finished in 4th place in a time of 50.77.  Ray Lennon finished 2nd in his heat of the 400m in 55.63 and 3rd in his heat of the 200m in a time of 24.31.Alan Whelan finished 3rd in his heat of the 400m in 51.95 and 4th in his heat of the 60m in 7.30. Alan also competed in the 200m where he clocked 23.31. Ger Hensey continued his good form with a time of 7.45 in his heat of the 60m and finished in 4th in his heat of the 400m in 55.09.  Pauline Curley finished in 6th place in the final of the 3000m in a time of 9.58.59. Pious Devine competed in the 60m and clocked 7.77. Well done to all.

News Round Up
Pauline Lambe had a good win in the Clonmel 4 Mile road race recently when she came home the winner in a good time of 23.17.

John Todd competed in the Business Houses 5 mile cross Country race in Swords, Co.Dublin last Saturday. John finished in 71st place overall out of a field of 181 runners and won the over 55 section in a time of 33.33.
Congratulations to club members, Pat and Martina Conlon who recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
AGM.

The Annual General Meeting will take place next Monday, February 15th at 8pm sharp.With the club enjoying success at all levels it is hoped that there will be a big turnout for the AGM to ensure that this success can be built on into the future.

February 14th : Leinster Senior Cross Country Championships, Kilmacow, Kilkenny.
February 21st : National Intermediate and Masters Cross Country Championships, Lough Key, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
March 7th : Inter Club Cross Country Championships, Phoenix Park.

Training: Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, Sunday morning at 8.30am Except on a race day. New members always welcome.

With the dark evenings now here it is important to be seen on the roads so reflective gear must be worn while training on the roads
