National Senior Indoor Championships
Three athletes from Tullamore Harriers travelled to Belfast for the National Senior Championships at the weekend. Ger Hensey, fresh from a treble at the masters the previous week, improved on his time in the 60m finishing 4th in his heat in a time of 7.51. He then went on to finish in 2nd place in his heat of the 200m, having a great run, in a seasons best time of 24.75. Fearghus Hannon continued his great season winning his heat of the 200m in a new PB of 22.77. This qualified him for the 200B final. Fearghus ran a great race to finish in 2nd place and in 4th position in the championships running a new PB of 22.59. Eoin Hannon competed in the 60m sprint and the long Jump. He showed he is getting back to his best by running a new PB of 7.12 finishing 2nd in his heat of the 60m and went on to better this in the semi final finishing 3rd in a new PB of 7.11. A DSQ in the B final ended his interest in the 60m. Eoin then put in a series of very good jumps in the long jump, unfortunately due to breaks. only one of 6.76 was recorded which enabled him to finish 4th in the National Championships.
Business Houses
The Aer Lingus Cross Country races were held last Saturday in Santry, North Dublin.Ground conditions were heavy after the recent snow.
Rosemarie Masterson competed in the womens 2.5 mile race and finished a fine 11th place in a time of 14.52.
The mens race was run over 5 miles and had 180 runners and Declan Madden ran well to finish in 25th place in a time of 32.35. Tony McCormack was 47th and clocked 34.00. John Todd was disappointed with his run in finishing 59th in a time of 35.02 but knowing John he will soon be back to form.
AGM
The Annual General Meeting will take place in the Harriers clubhouse on Monday February 23rd at 8pm. It is hoped that there will be a big turnout on the night and all members are welcome to attend.
Fixtures
February 15th. National Masters and Intermediate Cross Country championships in Tymon Park, Dublin.
March 1st. AAI. National Senior and Junior Cross Country Championships in Santry, Dublin.
Training: Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm, Sunday morning at 8.30am (except on a Race day). New members always welcome. On these dark evenings, it is important that all members wear reflective clothing when running on the roads.
Membership is now due and costs 35 Euro for the year
