KENNEDY AND HANNON SELECTED FOR EUROPEAN CUP TEAMS
Gordon Kennedy and Eoin Hannon have been selected in the Irish Team for the European Cup Track and Field Championship which will be held in Budapest, Hungry on the 20th June. Gordon has been selected to represent Ireland on the 4 x 400m relay team and Eoin has been selected to represent Ireland in the long jump. Gordon and Eoin cemented their selections at the British Inter Counties Athletics Championships in Bedford last weekend where Gordon, in extreme windy conditions, won his 400m race in a time of 47.96. Eoin equalled his seasons best with a jump of 7.40m to secure 3rd place in the Long Jump competition. Gordon has continued his great start to the outdoor season by winning the 400m at a grand prix meeting in Copenhagen on Friday night where he ran a season best of 47.36. Congratulations to both athletes, a great honour for the club and a great boost for their training partners.
LEINSTER JUNIOR & U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS
Tullamore Harriers had a strong representation at the Leinster Junior & U23 championships held in Tullamore last weekend. Lauren Dunne finished in bronze medal position in the Junior Ladies 100m in a time of 13.33. Niamh McNamara won bronze in the Junior Ladies 400m in a time of 65.81. Kelly Cunningham won bronze in the Junior Ladies Discus with a throw of 38.12m. Sean Donegan finished 6th in the Junior Men’s 100m in a time of 12.12, He went on to finish 4th in the 200m in a time of 24.27, a new PB. Stephen Kelly had a great win in the Junior Men 400m in a time of 51.15, a new PB. Liam Brady had 6 seconds to spare in winning the Junior Men 1500m in a time of 4.13.73. Darragh Hanlon recorded a golden double in the Discus and the Shot with throws of 42.52m and 13.11m respectively. Alan Whelan finished in 6th place in the U23 men 100m in a time of 11.58 and again in 6th place in the 200m in a time of 23.38. Larry O Reilly finished in 7th position in the U23 men 200m in a time of 23.59 and went on to take the silver medal in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.64m. Joe Mulligan wrapped the day up with gold in the Shot with a throw of 9.56m, gold in the Discus with a throw of 25.93m and gold in the Javelin with a throw of 33.12m. Well done to all the athletes, Excellent performances all round.
Leinster Senior Championships.
The Leinster Senior and Masters track and field championships were held in the Harriers Stadium last Sunday and some preliminary results are just available. Eoin Hannon continued his good run of form to easily win the Long Jump title with a leap of 7.20. Fearghus Hannon also had a fine run in the 400 metres when finishing second in a time of 49.14.

Club Championships.
The first leg of the Club Championships took place on Tuesday of last week on a bright fine evening and with the athletes striving for points for their teams, there was keen competition in all the events.

News Roundup.
Liam Byrne joined 10,000 others in the Cork City Marathon on a very wet Bank Holiday Monday and finished in 224th place in a time of 3.28.29.
Pauline Curley continues to dominate the road racing circuit and had a great week starting with a good win in the Rathowen 5k road race in a time of 17.54. Jody O’Reilly finished in 11th place in 18.47 with Sean Donegan clocking 20.53 for 41st place. Pat Donegan was placed 43rd in a time of 20.57 and Ursula O’Reilly finished in 53rd overall and clocked 21.40.
On Sunday last Pauline Curley made the long trip to Kilmacow in South Kilkenny for the Little South 4 mile road race and in a big field was placed 15th overall and was the winner of the womens race in a time of 23.10.
John Todd made a return to road racing after a month out due to injury in the Government Services Business Houses 5 mile road race held in Dunboyne last Saturday. In a big field of 300 runners, John ran well to finish in 60th place overall and he was the winner in the over 55 category. John’s time was 30.48.
