OLYMPIC DREAM STILL ON FOR KENNEDY
Gordon Kennedy and the Irish 4x400 relay squad suffered a cruel blow when the relay events due to be held at the Salamanca GP in Spain last Wednesday were cancelled. Still needing a time of 3.04.33 to qualify for the Beijing Olympics the team are hoping to have one more shot at qualifying, at the time of writing they hope to run in Lucerne Switzerland on the 16th and make the top 16 qualifying list. Gordon was in Switzerland last Friday for the 400 metres at the Lugano GP, running 46.91 to take fourth place behind South African winner Mogawane Ofentse 45.89. Next Tuesday Gordon travels to Sweden to compete over 400 at the Sollentuna GP.
