5th October 2008 - Results and Fixtures
Kelly and Cuskelly Masters of Charleville
The Offaly Masters and Novice Championships took place last Sunday morning in the grounds of Charleville Estate. After heavy rain overnight, ground conditions were a little sticky. However, the morning was dry and sunny and there was some good racing.
Noel Kelly, who joined Tullamore Harriers recently, showed his class when winning the Masters over 35 race run over 6,000 metres in a time of 21.02 from John Donegan and Martin Carroll. Liz Cuskelly had plenty to spare in winning the Women’s Masters title with Ann Carroll in second place.
Mick Murphy made light of the heavy conditions to lead all the way to win the Novice Race over 6,000 metres in 22.16 from Ronan Duffy and Pat Conlon. In the Ladies Novice Race over 3,500 metres, Mary Daly showing no ill effects from her recent Ironman, ran strongly to win in a time of 16.13 with Sharon Leanard coming back to form taking second place 36 seconds adrift with Una Mullen third in 17.06.
