Grennan Wins Discover Tullamore 5k

Tullamore Harriers were very happy to be involved in the Discover Tullamore day last Sunday by organizing a 5k run. There was a festival atmosphere as Councillor Declan Harvey got the run underway from outside the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre. Catch Grennan and John Harkin went into the lead from the start as they headed out the Clara road. Grennan kept pushing the pace and soon dropped Harkin. Coming in the Rahan road Grennan had a big lead and he maintained it to come home a clear winner by one hundred and fifty meters from Peter Mooney in a time of 16.29.

John Harkin was third, just three seconds behind Mooney while John Donegan had a great battle with Johnny Feery before claiming fourth place. Liz Cuskelly in eight place was the first woman to finish in a time of 18.18.
The Harriers would like to thank all the people who helped out with the stewarding on the day and made this run possible.
