Jody O’Reilly Best in Spring League Mile
The second leg of the Spring League took place on Tuesday last. It was run over the classic mile distance which is four laps of the track. Adrian Curley who won the first leg over 3000 metres was the man in form and was expected to be the man to beat.

Mick Murphy who was second last week to Curley took out the pace from the start and was closely followed by Adrian Curley and Jody O’Reilly. In the closing stages Curley made a few attempts to get by Murphy but to no avail. With two hundred metres to go Jody O’Reilly made the decisive break to pass Murphy and maintained his form to the finish to win by twenty metres in a time of 4.52.8. Mike Murphy battled to the end to finish second in 4.55.5 with Adrian Curley having to settle for third place in a time of 4.57.2. Anthony Rickard ran a fine race to finish fourth in 4.59.4 .

In the individual standings it could not be any closer with Adrian Curley, Mick Murphy and Jody O’Reilly all level on points. With the final leg to be run this week over 5000 metres each of the above mentioned must fancy their chances of overall victory. Fra Mollens team are leading the way with 409 points closely followed by Martina Conlons team on 395 points while Larry Rigneys team have it all to do with only 291 points.
