5th June 2008 - Results and Fixtures

BUSY WEEK ON THE ROADS
It was a busy schedule for the distance runners with a number of races around the Midlands last week. First stop was in Enfield on Tuesday for the Na Fianna promoted Bob Heffernan 5k road race and it was a very worthwhile trip for the athletes in a race that had 169 finishers.

Declan Fahy and Catch Grennan were in the leading bunch as they approached the 4k mark when Declan made a move which split the group. As Declan opened up a gap he was chased all the way to the line by Mick Coyle of Naas but held off the challenge to take victory. Catch Grennan took the over 35 title and was delighted to break 16 minutes for the first time. Jody O’Reilly was third over 35 and this trio scored 29 points to take the team title ahead of South 0 Hanlon’s on 33 points and Mullingar Harriers with 34 points.
