Gordon Kennedy Makes European Semi Finals
Tullamore Harriers athlete Gordon Kennedy qualified for the semi final of the 400metres at the European Chamopionships in Barcelona last week. He ran in lane 3 and finished in a time of 46:63. The semi finals took place on Wedensday and Gordon finished in eight place in a time of 46.72. This was a great achievement and well deserved for the all the hard work he put in. Gordon will also be pleased that he ran up to form in these championships and the fact that he ran under 47 seconds on consecutive days. Gordon was a member of the Irish 4x400 metre relay team that took to the track on Saturday. Hopes were high that this team could make it through to the finals but these hopes were scuppered when the teams star man David Gillick pulled out of the team after his disappointing run in the 400 metre final on Friday night. Gordon Kennedy ran a fast first leg and got the team off to a great start. The team were still in third place going into the last leg but lost ground on the last leg to finish in sixth place.
