Gowran 8 Win for Richie Galvin
The annual Gowran 8 mile road race was run off last Tuesday evening in perfect conditions for running. The Gowran Trophy is awarded to the first Novice to finish. A big field of thirty five runners competed with many of those been relatively newcomers to the club. Right from the start of the race the battle for the Gowran trophy developed into a duel between Richie Galvin and Eddie Garry with Galvin just prevailing at the end to claim victory over Garry by a mere three seconds. Richie finished in fourth place overall and recorded a fast time of 46.58 for the eight mile distance with Eddie Garry clocking 47.01.
The fastest man on the night was the experienced Declan Fahey who eventually shook off the challenge of John Harkin in the last mile to finish in a time of 43.59 with Harkin clocking 44.14. In third place was Cormac Troy in 45.18. The fastest lady on the night was Liz Cuskelly in eleventh place in a time of 50.44.

Pauline Curley Strolls to Longford Marathon Victory
The annual Longford Marathon and Half Marathon were held last Sunday on a warm but breezy day. Pauline Curley had a great victory when she came home an easy winner, over ten minutes ahead of second placed Helena Crossan. Pauline’s winning time was a very respectable 2.50.03.
Larry Rigney running his 95th marathon ran very well for 85th place in a time of 4.05.16. Larry is looking forward to running a few more marathons this year and reach that great milestone of one hundred marathons. Larry is passing on his passion for running to his family and his son Conor competed in the half marathon where he finished in 84th place in 1.44.35.
Noel Kelly had a great run in the half marathon to finish in third place in a fast time of 1.10.50. Glen Finlay was happy with his 51st place in a time of 1.38.35 which augers well for his planned run in this years Dublin City Marathon.
